Krab howitzers have been readied to be sent to the customer at the HSW S.A. facility, along with the auxiliary command, command-staff, recovery and ammunition carrier vehicles. All of the platforms listed here would constitute the equipment of the first battery that is going to become a part of the first series manufactured Regina module. The quantity of vehicles is higher than envisaged by the schedule of the deliveries. Even though 12 Krab howitzers are ready, the schedule assumes that the first battery consisting of 8 platforms would be delivered to the military by the end of this year.

I wonder if it would be a good way to get Romania involved in the AHS KRYL project. Our project has stopped on a prototype, which can be quickly implemented and would be beneficial for both parties. lower costs, the possibility of implementation to Romanian conditions, for example your own chassis for logistics because changing the chassis for a cannon is not really profitable. It would have been useful for us in the 17th Brigade and the 21st Podhale Brigade

Every cooperation between Ro and Poland would be a good thing for both of us.

Also, my understanding is that Poland was the first to sign a deal on US gas, pulling it out of Russian dependence or leverage. If this is confirmed it should be great news for you, especially since it seems that the US will also treat this as a strategical (rather then purely commercial) deal and you will benefit advantageous costs (lower then Russian).
Lower sensitivity to Russian influence is heavily dependent on energy source specially on Easter Europe, and this is maybe one common point that Poland (now) and Romania share; perhaps this is an aspect important enough to allow for future collaboration.
Recently, a contract for the supply of 40 billion liquefied gas from the USA has been signed, it will probably be signed again because we will also sell gas in the region. In 2022, the contract with Gasprom ends, which does not mean not signing another one if the conditions are favorable. In the present situation, the Russians will no longer be able to blackmail us with high prices. In addition, Polish companies have deposits in the North Sea, Libya and are looking for opportunities on the Mediterranean. It is about achieving total energy independence for the country and the importance of gas sales throughout the whole of Central Europe.

All we have are left wing parties, former comminist party rebranded, socialist parties or globalist parties.
Until we have a political force that will fight for our country, I see little hope for a convergence of interests between Poland and Romania.

In the 90s we had many cooperation projects with the israelis, including the ATROM 155 mm self-propelled howitzer. It was basically the romanian version of the ATMOS 2000, with the 155 mm Soltam M-71 howitzer mounted on a ROMAN 6×6 chasis. Three prototypes were built, but the romanian army didn’t placed any order.

Regarding the Visegrad Group, I agree with George GMT. Military speaking there aren’t many benefits for Poland, Visegrad is good only for political decisions like the opoositions to receving migrants.
Regarding the military force, in Visegrad Group, we have a behemoth (Poland) and three hobbits. Although I have to admit that Czech Republic and Slovakia with the future F-16V, will have good equipent but in small ammounts.
Romania and Poland have a strategic pact, and taking into account that both of us will have common american equpment, F-16, HIMARS, Patriot and lets hope for the F-35 in the future, it is imperative to deepen our military cooperation in terms of both equipment interoperability and industrial cooperation.
And also hungarians, czech and slovaks leaders are quite pro-russian.
You are right, the Russians have kept and are creating a lot of new pressure on the region. Traditions are long and the land is prone to manipulation. It surprises me how big influence is in Hungary and what people surround Orbán .. in the Czech Republic there is no better … in Slovakia, political corruption is scaring! With us, Kaczyński is busy fighting for influence. I do not see what is happening on the extreme right .. it means he saw only a bit late!

Yes, we do hope so ourselves. Unfortunately, the Romanian politicians and top ranking military planners have a very obvious opinion: Poland has a border with Belarus and it is quite accessible through the Baltic corridor, so Poland will fight in the front line. We have a very thick Ukraine between us and Russia so we are threatened just from Krimeea and the skies. So we invest in naval power, in aviation and AA defence and we ignore heavy equipment for land forces. Stupid, of course. Whenever Poland fell, it was bad for us too. Let’s hope for deeper military cooperation between our countries, the Russian interest against it is quite manifest over here.

It’s not stupid at all. It is a question of prioritizing. Poland has invested in air defence first, and their flat plain requires a much larger ground and armour force. The goal, for us and them, is to rezist until larger forces arrive. This will happen gradually, of course. The ideea is we will be assisted by USAF from the first moment and soon the large para troops should come.

De ce nu? Posibilitati de cooperare in ceea ce priveste sistemul Patriot, in special cu privire la rachetele mai ieftine pe care si le doresc polonezii. Radare, etc. Noi avem scut, ei au scut. Nu ar fi lipsita de importanta o coordonare mai stransa in domeniul AA. Intre noi si ei nu e o mare distanta dpdv geografic. Radarele noastre si ale lor o pot acoperi f usor.
Cred ca se referea la faptul ca ai spus ca Polonia a investit prima data in sisteme de aparare aeriana. Ceea ce nu prea s-a intamplat. Ei de la inceputul anilor 2000 au cumpararat F-16, au rezolvat-o oarecum cu tancurile cu cele aprox 200 Leopard 2, au fabricat Rosomakuri destule. Asta spre deosebire de noi.
Abia acum o rezolva cu sistemele de aparare aeriana odata cu noi ca si stau cam la fel de prost ca noi pe partea asta.
Cele 48 F-16 cumparate in urma cu mai bine de 10 ani cum se cheama?!
Aparare anti aeriana nu inseamna numai mijloace sol aer.
@Tedy. Aparatele F 16 nu conteaza prea mult fara sisteme sol-aer. Este o aparare cu totul dezarticulata. Fara sol-aer chiar ai doar politie aeriana. Rusii nu vor veni buluc cu Suhoaiele ci mai intai cu rachetele de croaziera/Iskander.

Yap, Wisla delayed and still unclear, Narew (sorta range air defense) program that has not yet been started. If some years ago Poland quickly started the endowment programs and carried them out, in the past 2-3 years there has been a move in this respect.
The Homar program (HIMARS) is another strange thing, they are still fighting with Lockheed Martin, eventually buying them directly – just like Romania – but in the budget draft for 2019, Homar will only be funded if money remains from other procurement chapters.

The NAREW program is already part of the WISŁA program, it concerns the IBCS system and budget effectors, it is not sure whether it will be Israeli-American, it may be a British-European CAMM -ER. To this should be added Polish radar systems, which will be part of the new PATRIOT system for Poland and in the future for export and native systems for NAREW. For now, there will not be other major purchases until 2026, because these two are well over 100 billion PLN. Krab it is a very good, cost effective, self propelled howitzer. And we need this kind of weapon. the bad thing is that the tanks or self propelled howitzers are not in the programs for our army modernization. at least not until 2026. But, it can be a subject to study and implement. We have many obsolete tanks which can be transformed, for example, t55 to AA similar with Ghepard, we have tr85 as Tedy said joking above, maybe turned into an krab howitzer. Here we have political incompetence mixed with high treason. From incompetence or from eastern influences.
I think it is better to invest in a chassis dedicated for a howitzer. The cost of rebuilding old MBT chassis can be very high and risky. Here we have a completely different mass distribution and interior architecture for this assembly of the new drive … etc Regards!

Pai si poloneazii din ce au facut Krab-ul? Nu din bucati? Sasiu de la K-9 Thunder/T-155 Firtina, turela de la AS-90 britanic si tunul-obuzier de la PZH-2000 german. Sasiul lor productie proprie UPG-NG nu a fos fiabil sa sustina o turela pt t-o de 155 mm. Meritul lor este totusi ca au reusit sa-si produca propriul t-o de 155 ap senilat!
ArmRo a avut sansa sa aiba un t-o ap de 155 mm cu ATROM asemanator cu AHS Kryl, dar din motive neclare a ratat-o.
Francezii au aplicat varianta unui sasiu de tanc AMX-30 pe care au pus o turela adaptata pt t-o de 155 mm TRF-1 rezultand GCT-AUF-1/-2 un t-o de 155 mm ap pe senile care a avut un bun succes.
Nu stiu daca sasiul de TR-85 este atat de rezistent ca sa se puna pe el o turela cu un tun-obuzier de 155 mm/52 calibre din cele existente (K-9 Thunder sau Sholef).
Mai mult ca sigur ArmRo va avea in dotare M-109 A6 si M-1 A1 Abrams ca solutii rapide pt inzestrare neexcluzand poate M-2 Bradley, Marder-1 si M-113 A3. Leopard-2 A4/5 si PzH-2000 nu se stie cate ar mai fi disponibile.
