Israel’s Defense Ministry’s Directorate of Research and Development (MAFAT – DDR&D) a contractat firma BIRD Aerosystems pentru construirea unui prototip al unui sistem de protectie active a trupelor terestre impotriva amenintarilor aeriene, inclusiv ATGM. Se asteapta o demonstratie a noului sistem anul acesta. Asta desi exista Trophy si IronFist, dar cercetarea la israelieni nu se opreste niciodata.Se considera ca actualele APS-uri nu au capacitatea de a neutraliza amenintari ce au viteze relativ mici, zboara la altitudini joase si ataca tintele desemnate de deasupra. Noul APS va folosi un mic radar derivat din sistemul verificat SPREOS. Radarul va detecta si identifica amenintarile si va ghida contramasurile .Firma BIRD Aerosystems furnizeaza sisteme de protectie a aeronavelor impotriva MANPADS-urilor. AeroShield are avantajul ca se poate transfera de pe un avion pe altul ,nu e nevoie sa cumperi sistemul pentru fiecare avion detinut.

BIRD Aerosystem are printre clienti aviatia ceha,pe MI17, elicopterele ONU, VIP,etc. BIRD Aerosystems sustine ca la cererea unui client a sustinut in 2021 o demonstratie cu trageri live de MANPADS-uri impotriva unei tinte-avion simulat, ce avea ca protectie sistemele firmei , inclusiv SPREOS. Demonstratia a avut succes ,100% din MANPADS uri ratand tinta.Firma israeliana oricum va avea cerere mai mare dupa conflictul din Ucraina, imaginile cu elicopterele distruse de MANPADS uri sunt convingatoare pentru achizitia de sisteme de protectie a elicopterelor. Daca prototipul firmei de APS pentru blindate are succes , probabil ca va fi un concurent redutabil pentru Trophy si IronFist.
